What if there was no Resurrection?
1st Cor. 15:12-19

Resurrection Sunday, April 8, 2007
Sun Oak Baptist Church

Introduction

What happened in the garden? Satan asked: did God indeed say? See Gen. 3:1-3. What if Christ didn’t rise from the dead? What would it mean if there was no Resurrection?

I. #1: there would be no point in sharing the Gospel. See 1st Cor. 15:12-14b.

The word “empty” means “vain or devoid of truth.”

II. #2: there would be no gospel. See 15:14a.

        A. What is the Gospel? See 1st Cor. 15:1-4.

        B. In order for there to be a Gospel Jesus Christ had to die and He         had to rise from the dead.

III. #3: Christians would be spreading a lie. See 15:15.

A “false witness” is a liar.

IV. #4: Jesus Christ would be a liar.

        A. Jesus predicted His Resurrection. If He didn’t rise He’d be a liar.         For example: see John 2:19; Matt. 12:40; Matt. 16:21; Matt. 20:18-        19; etc.

B.If the Resurrection did not happen we could only conclude that         Jesus was a liar.

V. #5: Christians would be the most pitiable people on earth. See 15:19.
